Continuing Protests: Update 11/21

This is from the window of our Egyptian Dialect class at around 1 pm today.  Nothing violent or dangerous, just a little closer to home.  These are students gathering on campus to walk together to the military base, who would number 3000 by the time they reached their destination.  They are chanting “الشعب يريد إسقاط النظام” (Al shaab yureed isqaat alnazaam) which means “The people want the fall of the regime.”

Our Egyptian Dialect professor warned us to stay away from the protests and not to try and take pictures or video from the street if we do go, as there is a risk that we would be arrested on the suspicion of being foreign spies or journalists.  We were also warned not to ask strangers what is going on for the same reason.

The count is now 10 dead, 1700 injured according to Al Masry Al Youm‘s live feed.
